Liverpool Boss Arne Slot Praises "Quality" Premier League Striker Who Has £62.5M Release Clause

**Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has labelled Matheus Cunha as a “quality player” ahead of the Reds’ fixture against Wolves this weekend.**

The Brazilian has had a strong season so far and, speaking in his pre-match press conference, Slot was fulsome in his praise of the Brazilian international:

“Matheus Cunha is a quality player and has the quality to play for one of the top five teams in England.”

“That is one of the reasons why it is so difficult to win games in this league. We know it is going to be a tough game.”

Cunha will be available for a reasonable fee this summer

The 25-year-old signed a new contract with Wolves at the start of February but it reportedly included a release clause which means he can leave Molineux at the end of the season for £62.5m.

Considering Liverpool may be in the [**market for a new striker**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-transfer-news-benjamin-sesko-fans/) soon, Cunha could be one to keep an eye on, considering Slot’s clear admiration for him.

It has recently been claimed that Darwin Nunez was close to moving to Saudi Arabia last month and if that transfer is revived in the summer, it could pave the way for someone like Cunha to be brought in. He is not a traditional No.9 like Nunez but his skillset would make him a much better fit for Slot’s front three.

Liverpool would not be the forward’s only suitors

Before signing a contract extension, Cunha had been linked with moves to the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Considering the existence of the buyout clause, it is safe to assume that all three teams will retain their interest until the summer, especially if he continues to perform to the levels he has shown in recent months.
