Ruben Amorim has revealed his Manchester United side are nursing some 'problems' ahead of Sunday's trip to Tottenham - and admitted one player is unwell.
United travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League following their drab 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace earlier this month. They have endured a difficult top-flight season so far and sit 14th, having won just right of their 24 matches.
But this weekend clash with Spurs represents a huge chance for United to record a much-needed win and start to turn the tide. Ange Postecoglou's team sit one place and one point below United in the table.
While much has been made of Tottenham's injury crisis under Postecoglou, United are not without their issues either - with Amorim claiming his team 'have one or two problems'.
"No, was a good week until two days ago," Amorim said in his pre-match press conference. "We had some problems also. So we don’t have players back, maybe we have one or two issues but we are waiting.
"We have one player also who is sick so we will see the team at the weekend. But was good to work with the team, to feel the players and to try to improve our performance."
Jonny Evans, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw remain sidelined, while Lisandro Martinez is out for the rest of season after tearing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in a huge injury blow for Amorim.
United might be 12 points ahead of the relegation zone right zone and chances of them going down is very slim, but Amorim insisted his side must be aware of that consequence if performances do not improve.
"With the table as it is, it is impossible to feel comfortable in this moment," said Amorim. "We just want to win to improve our performance, because we are Manchester United. We need to win the next game, we need to improve and we need to perform better, so there is no comfortable situation in this club.
"Every game until the end of the season is a big game for us, we need to win no matter what, we need to win and to improve the way we play football. Our biggest problem now is Tottenham. But our focus - I said from day one - is to win the Premier League. We can change everything in a few years.
"I don’t know how long it's going to take, but we need to work every day, focus on the little steps and then next summer then we will see."
