'He's really down': Steve Evans slams'total madness'around Dan Gore situation, confirms injury timeline for Man Utd loanee

Dan Gore has only appeared once on loan for Rotherham so far but has been in the headlines numerous times.

When Dan Gore made his Rotherham debut, there would have been smiles at Carrington as he looked guaranteed to play a big role.

For Manchester United, this was the second consecutive January that Gore departed on loan and this one looked to have had a dream start.

On his debut, Gore assisted Rotherham’s only goal against Birmingham with a perfectly weighted ball into the box, showcasing his immense ability on the ball. This had fans of the League One side excited as they praised the 20-year-old.

However, last weekend Gore was absent from Rotherham’s squad which led to manager Steve Evans launching into a baffling rant about the midfielder claiming there was no way he could be injured.

This quickly backfired with it emerging that Gore was set to miss weeks with a foot injury, with the youngster being sent to see a specialist to aid his recovery.

Steve Evans slams those who spread rumours about Dan Gore’s injury

After Evans’ harsh verdict on Gore last weekend, the Rotherham boss backtracked explaining he let his frustration overcome him.

However, this was not before his treatment saw Manchester United chiefs’ concern rise over Gore’s treatment, as the club look to watch out for the player and ensure the loan is to his benefit.

MORE UNITED STORIES

Now, speaking ahead of Rotherham’s game against Reading this weekend, Evans has been discussing the situation again. But has forgotten his own comments as he slammed those who questioned the realness of Gore’s injury, as quoted by the Rotherham Advertiser.

“It’s total madness from people in dark bedrooms on social media,” Evans admitted. “Dan has just been unlucky.”

Evans then continued to explain to his club’s supporters the career of Gore thus far.

“Erik ten Hag (former Manchester United boss) absolutely loved him and had him in and around the first-team environment.

“The kid went to Port Vale and got an injury and then went back to Manchester United and got injured again. He got himself back to fitness and then came to us.”

Manchester United loanee Gore set for one month out

Gore showed what he could do in his sole appearance for Rotherham, with Birmingham staff amazed by his performance. The good news for Gore and United supporters is that the timeframe on his injury suggests he will return with plenty of time to impress before the season ends.

Gore has suffered a hairline fracture of his metatarsal bone, the Rotherham Advertiser confirmed, with Evans suggesting his absence will be for “the best part of a month”.

Evans however put his backing behind Gore, praising the talented midfielder.

“These things can happen at any time. It can be when you’re under duress or even when you’re just walking. Dan will be back before the end of the season. We worked really hard to get him here because other clubs in League One wanted him. He played for us at Birmingham and everyone could see that he’d come from somewhere higher and was a real talent.

“He’s really down about it, we’re really down about it. What do you do? You put your shoulders back and deal with it.”

Gore will now be eyeing up a return against Wrexham on March 8th or alternatively against Exeter City on the 15th – with no international break for the League One sides.
