The Friedkin Group have a major decision to make on whether or not they want Kevin Thelwell to continue at Everton.
Thelwell is the Toffees’ Director of Football and his contract at the club runs out at the end of the season.
The new owners have already replaced Sean Dyche with David Moyes and it remains to be seen if there are more behind-the-scenes changes in the coming months.
Kevin Thelwell tried bringing Rasmus Hojlund to Everton before Manchester United
Manchester United roped in Ramsus Hojlund from Atalanta in the summer of 2023 for a staggering £72million fee, per the BBC.
His move to the Premier League has been relatively underwhelming as he’s struggled to live up to his price tag.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
The Athletic reported on 14 February that Thelwell explored a deal for the Danish striker when he was at Sturm Graz in Austria.
Given the timeline, he was there for only a year, so the Toffees chief wanted to sign him back in 2022.
However, the club decided not to sign him as they wanted a safer option.
Toffees dodged a bullet by not signing Rasmus Hojlund
It was one of the few wise decisions made by the hierarchy back when Farhad Moshiri was in charge.
Hojlund arrived with plenty of hype and promise and while he still may turn out good, his first two seasons have been flops at United.
In 74 games in all competitions, he managed to score just 23 goals – which is an underwhelming tally for a side that’s assembled for so much money and has talented players everywhere.
The 22-year-old has also gone missing in a number of big games and he’s shown nothing to suggest that he would’ve been a success at Goodison Park.
The Toffees signed Beto and while he’s not been an immediate success, he was barely given a chance under Sean Dyche.
Now with Moyes at the helm, fans are getting to see more of the Guinea-Bissau international and hopefully, he will start scoring goals more regularly now.

The strike against Liverpool will certainly give him confidence going into the business end of the season.
