Tottenham have been handed a major boost ahead of their crucial Premier League encounter against Manchester United, as first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is back in contention for selection.
The Italian shot-stopper has been out of action since November after fracturing his ankle in a collision with Savinho during a match against Manchester City.
The injury required surgery, forcing Vicario to miss 21 games across all competitions and spend nearly three months on the sidelines.
Ahead of the highly anticipated fixture, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Vicario has recovered faster than expected and is now fully fit.

The Spurs boss revealed that the goalkeeper had been working on his fitness individually for two weeks before reintegrating into full training with the squad over the past ten days, putting him in a strong position to return.
Ahead of the game against United, Postecoglou said (via Tottenham official website):
“Some of the lads who have been out for quite a while look like they’re in a good place now. Vic is probably the one who has come back ahead of schedule.
“He’s been training really well away from the team for two weeks. In the last 10 days he’s integrated back into the team and is fully into training, so he’s in a good place and that means he becomes available for us.”

Since joining Tottenham in June 2023 on a five-year deal, Vicario has quickly established himself as the club’s number-one goalkeeper. He made his debut in the season opener against Brentford and secured his first clean sheet for Spurs in his second match, a 2–0 victory over Manchester United.
His impressive performances saw him nominated for Save of the Month in five consecutive months and ultimately earned him the Goalkeeper of the Year award at the London Football Awards.
During Vicario’s absence, Fraser Forster initially stepped in but was later sidelined due to fitness issues, which led Tottenham to sign young Czech goalkeeper Antonín Kinský in January for an estimated £12.5 million. The 21-year-old made his debut in the EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool, where he kept a clean sheet in a 1–0 win.
Now that Vicario is available again, Tottenham will have a decision to make regarding their goalkeeping situation. Whether the Italian reclaims his starting spot or Kinský continues to feature remains to be seen.
