Liverpool and Manchester United are both interested in acquiring the services of Athletic Club defensive star Dani Vivian.
Liverpool and Manchester United have both already started planning for the next summer transfer window. Reinforcing their defence is going to be one of the priorities for both clubs and according to a report from Fichajes, the Premier League giants are interested in the services of Dani Vivian.
The 25-year-old Spanish international has been doing wonders for Athletic Club and his consistent performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe. Vivian has come up the ranks at the club and he has been a regular in their first team following a loan spell at CD Mirandés during the 2021/22 season.
The centre-back has over 130 appearances for the Athletic first-team and he even has eight goal contributions to his name. Vivian is certainly enjoying life at the Spanish club. He has three goals in his 30 outings this term.
While his contract at the Basque club runs until the summer of 2032, he has a €40 million release clause which can be triggered to take him away. It will be an expensive move but his consistent performances suggest it could be worth it.
Vivian could be heading to the Premier League
There is no shortage of interest in his services. Liverpool and Manchester United are two English giants who would love to have him on their squad. The Red Devils seek more depth and quality at the back. Despite making significant investments in their backline last summer, they will be in the market for another centre-back.
Lisandro Martínez’s serious injury has left them light at the back since Ruben Amorim prefers a back three, they do need more options. Vivian is seen as an ideal fit for their system. Meanwhile, the Reds are keen on his signature as their skipper Virgil van Dijk’s future still remains uncertain.
His contract is running out and he is yet to pen an extension. As a result, the Merseyside club are looking to prepare for life without him. Even if he does end up staying, they would love to add Vivian to their squad with an eye on the future. More importantly, his release clause should not be a problem for either of the English clubs next summer.
