Manchester United target admits he’s read transfer rumours–Sees it as a positive, doing his own research

Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senna Lammens has admitted he was left flattered by apparent interest from Manchester United and has done his research on them too.

The 22-year-old has been speaking to [Gazet van Antwerpen](https://www.gva.be/) about his career to date and that meant a conversation about interest from Manchester United.

The goalkeeper made his debut in the Jupiler Pro League under Philippe Clement aged 19 in July 2021 and has not looked back since, making 44 appearances in all competitions since then.

He’s now their number one and earning rave reviews, with five clean sheets in 28 games in all competitions this season and just 32 goals conceded.

That has apparently earned him attention from the Premier League, with a report in England claiming that Manchester United were watching him closely.

That is something Lammens is more than aware of and, when asked by Gazet van Antwerpen about that report, admitted he had read it, and started doing his own research.

“The first time I heard it, I thought: wow, Immediately a world team that follows you.  That is special.  Of course I was also asked about it a lot and when I made a save in training,” he said.

“Those top clubs have so many scouts and follow so many players.  So it doesn’t have to mean anything yet.  It will only become clear in the summer whether anything will come of it.  But of course, it is only positive.

“Especially because it is about the best competition in the world and my profile – my stature and way of playing – is suitable for English football.  You have to physically hold your own there and that suits me.

“I do follow the teams that follow you a bit.  But it’s not like I’m watching full matches.  Summaries are enough.”

If Manchester United were to move for him, it would be in the summer transfer window, when Ruben Amorim is expected to continue to overhaul the squad.

He could be searching for a replacement for Altay Bayindir, the current number two behind Andre Onana, who has expressed frustration at times at not playing more regularly.

Lammens would fit into Manchester United’s idea to focus on youth moving forwards, but he’s not anticipating a summer transfer as yet.

“Wow, hard to say. Then I’ve only played one full season at Antwerp,” he added when asked about a summer move.

“If something comes along that I can hardly say ‘no’ to and that will benefit the club, I’ll have to think about it seriously. But if I’m the first keeper here for another year, that’s no problem.

“On the contrary: I’m in a luxurious position.  Let me be clear, don’t make me crazy either. I’m an Antwerp player and as long as that’s the case, I’ll focus fully on my work here.”
