Manchester United drop major double Tottenham team news hint after Ruben Amorim warning

Ruben Amorim will take his Manchester United side to Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United youngsters Chido Obi-Martin and James Scanlon have been left out of the Under-18s' fixture against Newcastle this afternoon - promoting suggestions they could be set for a more senior role this weekend.

Obi-Martin and Scanlon were on the score-sheet for United in midweek - as they thrashed Chelsea's U18s in the FA Youth Cup at Leigh Sports Village. With Ruben Amorim's side currently struggling for goals, there had been calls for both players to be given the opportunity to thrive in the first-team squad.

However, the Portuguese former Sporting CP head coach has urged caution to the youngsters as they prepare to make the transition from youth football to the men's team. "Of course, they have [done well] and we need them a lot for the future of this club and I am really happy for them," Amorim told the club's official media channels.

"But they need to keep working because the Premier League is a different world, and they have to improve every day. So I am really happy and they need to continue."

Despite that, The Daily Mail journalist Nathan Salt understands that both Obi and Scanlon have been training with the senior team today with a view to featuring in north London on Sunday. Obi has been creating the most waves among United fans since joining last year from Arsenal.

The 17-year-old has scored 12 in 12 for the famed Academy system, with an imposing presence helping the striker to his impressive record to date. Left winger Scanlon has also impressed this campaign with 14 goals in 19 appearances for the Academy.

The Gibraltar starlet scored his first international goal in the Nations League during a 2-2 draw with Liechtenstein in September.
