Patrick Dorgu breaks silence after 'special' Manchester United debut, sets personal objective in the Premier League

Patrick Dorgu made his Manchester United debut last week.

Ruben Amorim was relieved to see his Manchester United side beat Leicester City in the FA Cup fourth round.

After a lackadaisical performance in the first half, the Reds came out a different side in the second half, with Amorim’s substitutes forcing a memorable comeback.

Joshua Zirkzee scored the equaliser after coming off the bench, and Harry Maguire netted the winner in stoppage time as United booked their place in the FA Cup fifth round.

United fans got to see Patrick Dorgu make his debut as the left wing-back started on the right flank. His first appearance only amounted to 45 minutes, but it was a nice introduction to the English game for the Denmark international.

Dorgu has now had another week to settle into his new surroundings.

Patrick Dorgu reflects on Manchester United debut

There’s always excitement when it comes to seeing a new United signing in action for the first time.

Many fans were shocked to see Patrick Dorgu start at right wing-back, but the Dane is versatile enough to operate on both flanks, which helps explain why Amorim wanted him in the first place.

Speaking to MUTV, Dorgu has broken his silence on his debut, describing it as a “special moment” in his young career.

“It was a really special moment,” Dorgu said. “It was nice to have the debut at home and it was good to get the win.

“I was a little bit nervous because it was my first game but it was a nice feeling to walk out. There was a good atmosphere in the stadium.”

When asked if he prefers to play on the right or left, Dorgu replied: “I don’t really mind. I can play both sides.

“I played a lot on the right for my old team [Lecce] and I played on the left as well. I’m quite comfortable in both positions.”

Dorgu sets objective in the Premier League

Millions of footballers dream of playing in the Premier League but Dorgu, 20, is set to make that a reality when United take on Tottenham on Sunday.

Dorgu got his dream move from Lecce and has already set an objective to improve his game in the best league in the world.

“For me, it was quite easy [to join United] because I know I can improve a lot here,” Dorgu added.

“I play with better players and the league is the best in the world, so for me, it was quite easy to make the decision.”

United’s recruitment is now trying to acquire players of the right mindset, and it sounds like Dorgu understands he still has everything to prove. The hard work starts now.
