Player reveals concrete interest from Arsenal and Manchester United early in career – Chose different career path

Former Feyenoord favourite Luis Pedro has revealed he turned down approaches from Arsenal and Manchester United early in his career, as he was determined to play for the Dutch club.

[Feyenoord Pings](https://www.feyenoordpings.nl/feyenoorder-negeerde-interesse-van-arsenal-ze-waren-concreet/) cover comments from the 34-year-old today made in an interview with Voetbal Primeur’s De Voetbalweek.

Pedro is currently without a club after a career spent mostly in the Netherlands, where he came through the youth ranks at Feyenoord.

He played for them at various levels before moving into the first team and going on to make 10 appearances for them before spells with Go Ahead Eagles, Heracles Almelo, Botev Plovdiv, Levski Sofia, ASA Tg. Muries and various other clubs.

He also made it to England, playing for Carlisle over a four-month period in 2016 but only managed one, 17-minute appearance for them.

His career was one that did not take off as he might have hoped, or expected, and he admits things could have been very different as both Arsenal and Manchester United showed concrete interest in him when he was younger. He, though, was only interested in Feyenoord.

“I used to be of interest to really big clubs,” he said.

“Arsenal was concrete and Manchester United was concrete. I always wanted Feyenoord first. That was just the dream. When you are in the stadium, and you play those matches…. Feyenoord, for me, that’s just home. That’s the most beautiful feeling.”
