Man Utd's brightest hope Amad Diallo 'out for season' as Ruben Amorim rocked by injury

Manchester United's young sensation Amad Diallo might be sidelined for the remainder of the season in a huge blow to manager Ruben Amorim.

The talented Ivorian winger has been one of the few bright points for the fallen Premier League giants in a wretched season. But he is believed to have sustained an ankle ligament injury during training and could face a lengthy spell out of action.

While he's still under assessment, there's a growing concern that his season could be prematurely wrapped up, reports the Mirror. Before this setback, the 22-year-old was on fire for the Red Devils.

He has bagged nine goals and provided seven assists. His impressive tally includes a last-minute decider against Manchester City and a stunning hat-trick versus Southampton.

Following his remarkable performances, Amad secured a new deal with United, keeping him at the club until summer 2030. Post-contract, Amorim challenged the youngster to step up and help arrest the slide that has left United languishing in 13th.

He said: "That is really clear. And we are going to be more demanding with Amad. He knows what we want to expect from him. Now he has a bigger responsibility because he has a long contract with a big club, so we're going to be really demanding with him."

However, Amad isn't the only player in doubt for the upcoming Sunday game against Tottenham. Lisandro Martinez is also out for the season due to a significant knee injury. Additionally, midfielder Kobbie Mainoo will be absent for several weeks, and both Toby Collyer and Manuel Ugarte are expected to miss the weekend's match.

In his pre-match press conference, Amorim admitted to a rocky preparation. He said: "It was a good week until two days ago. We had some problems also. We don't have players back.

"Maybe we have one or two issues, we are waiting. We have one player also who is sick so we will see who is fit. But it was good to work with team, to feel the players and try and improve performances."

Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Jonny Evans, and Altay Bayindir are all out of action for the upcoming game against Tottenham.

Hot on the heels of the Tottenham match, United face a quick turnaround as they gear up to play Everton the following weekend, and then they welcome struggling Ipswich. Their busy schedule continues with an FA Cup battle against Fulham amidst their league pursuits.
