Manchester United star's season could be over as Ruben Amorim handed fresh injury blow - Journalist

Ruben Amorim’s week has gone from a nightmare to an absolute catastrophe with yet another injury blow emerging.

After Manchester United beat Leicester City last week there was excitement over the fact there were nine days until the next game.

This should have given Ruben Amorim a week to get on the training ground consistently and work on the system. Amorim hadn’t had this chance at United previously considering how hectic the schedule was.

However, on Friday, the United head coach suggested that the week had not gone to plan. Amorim hinted at injuries and on Saturday it was confirmed Kobbie Mainoo was out with an injury – while Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer were serious doubts.

This seemed to be a nightmare scenario, but now things have gotten even worse for United.

Amad Diallo’s season could be over

The news that Mainoo was set for weeks on the sideline was terrible – when considering Lisandro Martinez is set to miss perhaps the rest of the calendar year.

However, now things have gotten worse with Amad Diallo said to be injured.

MORE UNITED STORIES

According to journalist Chris Wheeler, Amad could now be set to miss the remainder of this season after he suffered damage to his ankle ligaments during training.

The injury is still being assessed, but even a best-case scenario would see Amad miss a number of weeks.

This means United are without four starters for this weekend against Spurs and explains why Amorim is bringing Jack Moorhouse into the squad against Spurs.

Ruben Amorim’s season goes bad to worse at Manchester United

If Amorim’s season wasn’t already over, it is now with the latest round of injuries leaving the squad simply too weak to mount any sort of resurgence in the league.

United are likely to now utilise the academy and as soon as this weekend, Moorhouse could debut while James Scanlon and Chido Obi are also in contention to join the first-team squad.

United’s star man under Amorim was Amad who had nine goals and seven assists this season in all competitions – with the majority coming under the Portuguese head coach.

It leaves United woefully short in attack – with the decision to loan both Antony and Marcus Rashford now looking misjudged.
