At the end of the season, he was named the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year for the 2021/22 campaign, having also won the FA Youth Cup with two goals in the final against Nottingham Forest.

One of the most significant moments of his senior career so far came with a stunning overhead kick against Everton, a goal that quickly became iconic. Garnacho's exceptional strike was recognised on the global stage when he won the FIFA Puskas Award in 2024.

Liking anti-Ten Hag tweets

During United’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in April 2024, Garnacho was taken off at half-time by then-manager Erik ten Hag with the team one goal down. Following the game, the youngster liked a selection of tweets criticising Ten Hag for the substitution.

Shortly after, Ten Hag appeared in front of the media, stating that Garnacho regretted his actions and had apologised. In a pre-match press conference, Ten Hag: "Alejandro is a young player, has to learn a lot. He apologised for it and after that, we moved on."

While his manager seemed to brush off the incident, the fans were not as lenient, with many criticising Garnacho for his social media activity. It took some strong performances from the youngster to win them back over.

And while Garnacho remains at the club, Ten Hag was sacked in October and subsequently replaced by current United boss Ruben Amorim
