Man Utd news: Ruben Amorim confirms Sir Jim Ratcliffe issue as star suffers cruel blow

Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim has enjoyed a tricky first season with Man United

It’s the battle of the Premier League under-achievers this weekend as Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils have endured an awful season so far and sit 14th in the table with just 14 games of the season to go. Tottenham have endured an even worse campaign.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are a place and two points behind ahead of Sunday’s clash. It gives both sides an excellent chance for some much-needed points.

But there has been some particularly worrying news for United on the injury front. Take a look at the latest headlines from Old Trafford:

Amorim admits to Ratcliffe problem

Ruben Amorim has said he feels a duty of care to staff as Jim Ratcliffe continues to slash jobs at Old Trafford. He said: “I think it’s really important for us in the first-team, coaches and players, to not ignore that.

"People are losing their jobs, so we have to acknowledge that and the biggest problem is the football, because we spent the money and we're not winning. We're not in the Champions League, so the revenues are not the same.

“We spent a lot of money in the past and now we have to be careful with the finances. We can't rebuild the team the way we would like. When people are losing their jobs, of course it’s hard to have that feeling of people feeling safe in their jobs and it affects the environment. We cannot ignore that, we acknowledge that problem and I want to say that the responsibility is on the first-team and we have to change that.”

Amad suffers ‘season-ending injury’

Amad has been one of the stars of the season under Amorim but it appears that United could be without him for some time. The Ivorian has picked up an ankle ligament injury and there are reportedly concerns that he could miss the remainder of the campaign.

He has since released an emotional message confirming the blow. Taking to Instagram, Amad wrote: "Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season.

“Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for."

Antony’s exit stance confirmed

Antony is enjoying a brilliant loan spell with Real Betis but it appears that he is not quite ready to give up on his Man United dream just yet.

Speaking about the Brazilian’s future, his agent agent Junior Pedroso said : “I believe that football is very dynamic. There are no long-term plans to be made. There may still be a few more chapters in his story with Manchester United, or there may not be. This will depend on many factors involving decisions by the club and him in the near future.

“Antony respects Amorim a lot, for sure. But we understood in January that his moment at the club was not good, so Manchester United also understood that leaving on loan was the best way for Antony to recover his best form.”
