Jack Moorhouse trains with the Manchester United first team
Jack Moorhouse has trained with the Manchester United first team
19-year-old academy ace Jack Moorhouse is set to travel with the Manchester United squad to Tottenham as Ruben Amorim's midfield options are limited.
Amorim's tenure at Old Trafford has not been the easiest. Man United are currently 14th in the Premier League table and only 12 points away from the relegation zone following a series of rocky results.
Now, the Portuguese manager has been hit with an injury crisis. Not only is his best player Amad Diallo now sidelined for several weeks, but Amorim is also experiencing a calamity in midfield.
Kobbie Mainoo is out with a thigh injury and likely won't be back until mid-March. Manuel Ugarte and 21-year-old Toby Collyer are both doubts for the game following injuries in training.
Journalist Laurie Whitewell has reported that Man United academy prospect, Moorhouse, is set to travel with the first team to Tottenham. Amorim is having to throw his academy players in the deep end due to his list of injuries.
Although Amorim's picking of Moorhouse is largely injury related, the 19-year-old has deserved it. He has been in great form this season at academy level.
He was nominated for the Premier League 2 player of the month award for December. Due to his performances, Moorhouse got a chance to join some first-team sessions at Carrington.
Now, the young midfielder is going to get his chance to make his first Premier League start in a crucial game for Amorim. Tottenham are one spot below Man United. Both teams are having difficult seasons, but a win for Amorim will place a buffer between himself and Ange Postecoglou.
