PSG’s £50M-Rated Target Camp Speaking to Tottenham, Newcastle as Chelsea Exit Looms

Paris Saint-Germain weighed the idea of bringing back Christopher Nkunku during the winter transfer window but chose not to make a formal approach. The French forward stayed put at Chelsea, though speculation around a possible summer departure hasn’t disappeared.

Nkunku, who arrived at Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 for £52 million, has struggled to stay healthy and break into the regular starting lineup. Injuries and heavy competition for minutes have cast some doubt over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

According to journalistBen Jacobs, PSG explored the option but ultimately backed off. Bayern Munich also opted against a January move, butSport Bild’s Christian Falk reports the German club could revisit its interest later this year.

TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, recently shared the latest on Nkunku’s future, noting that the player’s representatives are actively exploring a possible move.

As rumors link Nkunku to both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur—two of Chelsea’s fiercest rivals—Bailey weighed in on whether he could realistically make a summer move to either club.

“The player’s representatives are doing their due diligence on options – as Roy Keane wouldsay they are ‘doing their job’ making sure all options are on the table,” Bailey said. “Nkunku has known since last summer that he could leave Chelseaand he almost departed in January, but this summer he will almost certainly depart Stamford Bridge.

“As it stands I am told that a move to Europe is the most likely option – but his people are touching base with clubs in England. Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Tottenham have all been spoken to in the past few months. Chelsea want to recoup as much of their plus £50m outlay, but thatlooks difficult at this juncture.

“I am told the player isvery happy in London, and so would a move toa Arsenal or Tottenham appeal?I believe it wouldbut as itstands those options are not advanced – but Arsenal and Spurs both havean historic interest in the player. Both want a wideforward, so you could see the fit.

“There is interest back in Germany – Bayern Munich like him, a new deal for Leroy Sane doesn’t rule out them making a move but it is not pressing. Former club RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen also admire him. Atletico Madrid have also shown some interest, as have the Saudi Pro League – who are willing to offer him a pay rise to move.”
