Things are heating up in the race for Fantasy Premier League points as the season enters its final four gameweeks. There’s the lesser-spotted Friday night fixture this week, with managers facing a quicker turnaround than usual to finalise their team’s plans.
With the league title and relegation spots already confirmed, there are decisions to be made about which players to throw into the mix. Ahead of this week’s Premier League action, Express Sport have detailed all of the latest FPL injury news.
Erling Haaland - Manchester City
The sight of Erling Haaland (and Rodri) back in light Manchester City training this week would’ve been a welcome one as far as the Blues are concerned. But the prospect of him featuring against Wolves remains slim, given the striker hasn’t played since late March. He could be in line for minutes later on this month, but don’t expect to see the Norwegian marksman amongst the goals this weekend.
Marcus Rashford - Aston Villa
Meanwhile, hopes of a return before the end of the season for Marcus Rashford look to have been dashed, after it was reported his campaign could be over. He missed Aston Villa’s FA Cup semi-final with a niggle last weekend, with claims the injury could be serious enough to keep him out all month. That would mean the Englishman has already played his final match for the west Midlands outfit, but more importantly, FPL managers should be looking to sell immediately!
Gabriel Magalhaes - Arsenal
Another player who isn’t expected to feature again this season is Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes. The defender has been a regular source of points at both ends of the pitch this season, but an injury picked up against Fulham last month appears to have been terminal as far as his chances of featuring in Arsenal’s run-in are concerned. Jakub Kiwior has been ushered in as his replacement and, in fairness, hasn’t really put a foot wrong so far.
Conor Bradley - Liverpool
As high a points tally as possible is all Liverpool have left to play for this season, having wrapped up the league title during last week’s thumping at home to Spurs. Conor Bradley watched from the sidelines as the Reds confirmed themselves as league champions, but the youngster is being tipped to return to the squad when Liverpool make the journey south to Chelsea on Sunday.
Robert Sanchez - Chelsea
He’s had his critics this season, but Robert Sanchez put on a fine display during Chelsea’s slender win over Everton last Saturday. That momentum was stunted in mid-week though, when he sat out the two-time European champions’ Conference League win in Sweden. Explaining his absence, Enzo Maresca said: “Robert has a small problem after a knock against Everton and Christo had something similar in our session.”
Dominic Solanke - Tottenham
It was almost the perfect first-leg for Tottenham against Bodo/Glimt, until players started going down with injuries and they conceded a late goal. One of those to pick up a knock was Dominic Solanke, who hobbled off midway through the second half. When quizzed on the striker’s problem, Ange Postecoglou revealed it wasn’t too serious, but it’s unlikely any risks will be taken this weekend.
