Chelsea are hoping to have goalkeeper Robert Sanchez fit to face Liverpool when the newly-crowned champions visit Stamford Bridge this weekend.
After picking up a knock in last Saturday’s crucial 1-0 win over Everton, Sanchez was left in London in midweek as the Blues travelled to Sweden to meet Djurgarden in the first leg of their Conference League semi-final.
Christopher Nkunku also missed the 4-1 victory while being assessed for an issue picked up in training and Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca says it is Sanchez who is the more likely of the pair to make it back in time for Sunday’s game.
“The medical staff are going to tell me something more [on Thursday],” Maresca said of Nkunku’s injury. “It's exactly the same with Robert. He is working already on the pitch, so I think probably compared to Christo it's a better situation, but we'll see.”
Maresca made eight changes to his side for Thursday night’s win in Stockholm and was able to spread minutes across his squad by making a further four at half-time.
Malo Gusto was also fit enough to be named on the bench after picking up a hamstring injury against Fulham last month, while Romeo Lavia is rested having been ineligible for the European trip.
