Manchester City are closing in on securing a Champions League spot after claiming a crucial victory over Wolves on Friday night.
The result moved the Blues into third ahead of the remaining weekend fixtures. City have been short of their best for most of the campaign but could still end the season with a top three finish and the FA Cup.
Kevin De Bruyne's strike proved the difference against Wolves and City will now expect to secure a top five spot at least over the closing weeks of the Premier League campaign.
For the last few weeks it has been a three from five scenario to join champions Liverpool and Arsenal in next season's Champions League City are now all but certain to finish in the top six, having opened up a sizeable gap over Aston Villa.
Villa will be unable to catch City if they fail to beat Fulham this weekend and even if Unai Emery's side do win, Pep Guardiola's men would need six points from nine to ensure they finish ahead of the Midlanders regardless of what Villa do.
City's win over Wolves means it's a long shot for Villa to overhaul and realistically Guardiola's men will need to finish above one of Newcastle United, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea still have to play Forest and Newcastle, meaning City's rivals will drop points during the run-in.
It means Forest and Chelsea, currently both on 60 points with four to play, cannot both take a maximum 12 points. They can both only reach a high of 70 and in that scenario Newcastle would only be able to hit 71.
It means 71 points will be enough for City to finish in the top five regardless of results elsewhere, which equates to two wins and a draw from their final three matches. The likelihood is City won't need to reach that tally.
Indeed if Chelsea lose to Liverpool and Forest are beaten by Palace this weekend then City could potentially wrap up a top five spot next weekend. If the Blues beat Southampton and Chelsea and Forest fail to win against Newcastle and Leicester respectively, City would be guaranteed a top five place.
Here's how the run-in looks for those clubs competing for a Champions League spot.
