Manchester United are ready to battle Barcelona and Real Madrid for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have their eyes set on Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, who will be available for free this summer. The German centre-back is at the top of Barcelona’s wishlist, and they have been working hard to strike a deal. However, the Red Devils are prepared to rival them to his signature.
While the Catalan giants are pushing hard for his signature, Real Madrid are also interested in signing the 29-year-old on a free transfer. However, Manchester United are looking to steal a march on them, and they have already held talks with his representatives.
After coming up the ranks and making a name for himself at Hamburger SV, Tah joined Leverkusen back in the summer of 2015. He went from strength to strength and managed to establish himself as a key figure in the team.
Jonathan Tah has been a go-to man for Xabi Alonso in recent years. He played a massive role in their domestic double last season and has been a consistent performer this time around as well. the experienced defender has featured in a total of 46 matches, and he has racked up more than 4,100 minutes.
While he remains one of the first names on their team sheet, the 29-year-old has decided to switch clubs in the summer. With his contract running out at the end of the season, Tah has informed people at the club that he won’t be penning a new deal and will leave to try a different and a bigger challenge elsewhere.

Barcelona have been the front-runners for his signature for several months. The Catalan giants do not have the best financial situation. As a result, they are very attentive to massive opportunities in the market. They feel the possibility of signing someone with Tah’s quality and experience for free is too good to let go of.
The Blaugrana have been working hard to strike a deal for his signature, and the negotiations are believed to be at an advanced stage. But the deal has not been finalised yet. As a result, Real Madrid and Manchester United can still try and lure Jonathan Tah away.
