Evanilson fights off Martin Odegaard as he scores for Bournemouth
The Premier League have issued a statement to explain why Evanilson's goal for Bournemouth in their clash with Arsenal wasn't disallowed despite a lengthy VAR check. The Gunners went 1-0 thanks to a Declan Rice first-half goal but the Cherries battled back in the second period.
Dean Huijsen grabbed the equaliser before Evanilson netted a scrappy second. The striker's goal was checked by VAR due to claims from the Arsenal players that he handled the ball. VAR stuck with the referee's decision, though, and now the league have explained why.
A statement read: "The referee’s call of goal was checked and confirmed by VAR – with no conclusive evidence that Evanilson handled the ball before scoring."
