Barcelona star Gavi was r[eplaced late on against Real Valladolid](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/barcelona-la-liga/2025/5/3/24422288/real-valladolid-barcelona-la-liga-final-score-match-report-recap-reactions), prompting fears the midfielder had picked up an injury and will miss El Clasico next weekend.
The midfielder went down grimacing and looked to be experiencing some kind of hamstring discomfort in the final minutes of the 2-1 win.
Hansi Flick sent on Eric Garcia in his place but it seems that Gavi is OK after all. Gerard Romero reports that he hasn’t picked up an injury and it was simply an “overload.”
Flick also spoke about midfielder after the win:
“I think Gavi is fine. It’s not an injury, or at least I hope it’s not. He said after the game that he’s fine, but we have to wait and see tomorrow.”
[Gavi had successfully avoided a booking during the match](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/5/3/24422204/gavi-expected-to-start-against-real-valladolid-but-must-be-careful) which would have brought a one-match ban and seen him ruled out of next weekend’s Clasico.
Yet it does sound like he will be available to play in the game which could end up deciding the title.
Barcelona’s win over Real Valladolid means Flick’s side are now seven points clear of Madrid, who play Celta tomorrow, and can potentially win the title in El Clasico.
