Manchester United outcast Antony has been enjoying an incredible renaissance in form on loan at Real Betis
Antony is widely expected to leave Manchester United in a permanent move in the summer transfer window.
The Brazilian winger left the club in a loan move in the January transfer window to join Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis side. He has done very well on his loan spell at Real Betis, delivering eye-catching displays in La Liga and the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Antony was on the scoresheet in the first leg of the Conference League semi-final win against Fiorentina, scoring an incredible right-footed volley past his former Manchester United teammate David de Gea. Betis’ chiefs have made it clear that they are eager to extend the diminutive winger’s stay.
Atletico Madrid is targeting a €40-50 million move for Manchester United winger Antony this transfer window.
Manchester United winger Antony has been fantastic on loan at Real Betis
Man United paid an eye-watering €95m to sign Antony from Ajax in the summer of 2022, but he royally failed to live up to that lofty price tag and expectations of the Old Trafford faithful. Having found himself on the periphery under Ruben Amorim in the initial months, INEOS decided to loan him out to Betis in a bid to help him revive his career.
And that is exactly what has happened, with the South American trickster netting six goals and supplying four assists in 19 games for Betis thus far. Now, according to Rafa Reis’ blog for UOL, the Red Devils are ‘optimistic’ that they can get €30-40m for Antony this summer after his sparkling form for Betis.
Interestingly, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal have made enquiries about Antony over a potential summer move. Betis want to keep the winger for another season, but an asking price of €30-40m is likely to be out of the Andalusian outfit’s reach. However, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal have the financial muscle to fulfil Man United’s demands, as INEOS prioritise a permanent sale.

Despite Antony’s incredible renaissance in fortunes in Spain, the aforementioned report adds that United still expect to make a loss on any deal. This is because of the fact that all of the interested parties know they ‘really want to sell him’.
Betis will likely be concerned about this update, as Atletico Madrid and Arsenal could convince Antony to join and play for bigger trophies than the Europa Conference League. He has looked like a completely different player at Benito Villamarin, attracting interest from high-profile clubs across Europe.

Man United chiefs do not want Antony back at the club. Their current valuation of the Brazilian is effectively more than half the €90m-plus they paid Ajax for the player three years ago. This clearly shows how poor our club have been in terms of recruitment under the Glazers.
