Barcelona have been hit by a setback ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg as Alejandro Balde is not now expected to be ready for the game.
Balde had been tipped to have some minutes after Real Valladolid on Saturday and then be in a position to start at San Siro.
However, the 21-year-old wasn’t even in the Barcelona squad for the 2-1 win over La Liga’s bottom side and has not yet returned to full training, according to Gerard Romero.
The expectation currently is that Balde will not play against Inter, and he is instead targeting a return in the Clasico next weekend instead.
Hansi Flick will therefore have some big decisions to make defensively against Inter, particularly as he is also without Jules Kounde at right-back.
Gerard Martin is the most likely to start in place of Balde and was named MVP in Saturday’s win over Valladolid.
