Sky Sports: Arsenal now want to sign 'unstoppable' forward alongside Gyokeres

Arsenal have added Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman to their shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Gunners are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season after a disappointing domestic campaign which has seen them miss out on the Premier League title once more, while Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus all picked up serious injuries during the season.

A natural number nine is believed to be the top priority for Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta in the window, with Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres among the top targets, but now Lookman is also being eyed.

Nigerian set to leave Bergamo

Ademola Lookman

Lookman has emerged as one of the top forwards in European football, with his performances over the last 12 months including a hat-trick in the Europa League final which saw him described as 'unstoppable'.

The Nigeria international is almost certain to leave Atalanta for a fresh challenge this summer, and a return to the Premier League is an option with the player keen to take the next step in his career.

Lookman has primarily played on the left since moving to Serie A and that is a position in which Arsenal could strengthen, with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard both having mediocre seasons.

A move for Athletic Bilbao sensation Nico Williams has also been mooted at the Emirates, with the Spaniard considered to be Arteta's dream signing, but it remains to be seen if it is possible due to his wage demands and his status at his boyhood club.

But a move for Lookman is certainly more achievable and at 27-years-old he would be the ready-made difference maker that the Gunners need to help them mount a title charge next season.
