Jakub Kiwior may consider leaving Arsenal this summer despite his strong run of form in the first team, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Kiwior could be tempted to “move on”, with Gabriel Magalhaes “likely” to reclaim his starting spot once he returns from injury.

Kiwior has impressed for Arsenal since stepping into the side following Gabriel’s season-ending setback and has shown a level of consistency that has caught the attention of both fans and clubs abroad.

Since arriving in 2023, the Polish international has largely been used as a squad player, but his recent performances have offered a glimpse of what he can bring when given a regular run in the team.

Kiwior was linked with a move away from Arsenal last summer, with multiple Serie A sides showing interest. However, no deal materialised at the time.

With Gabriel expected to slot back into the heart of the defence next season and competition for places likely to intensify, Kiwior could now be open to a move where regular first-team football is guaranteed.

Jakub Kiwior could be set for Arsenal exit despite redemption under Mikel Arteta

The Poland international joined Arsenal from Serie A side Spezia in January 2023 in a £20million deal, but has struggled for consistent game time since arriving in north London.

Earlier this season, Kiwior faced heavy criticism from Arsenal supporters, with some even calling for the club to offload him after a string of underwhelming performances in limited appearances.

However, a hamstring injury to Gabriel offered the 25-year-old an extended run in the starting XI, and he has since stepped up, partnering William Saliba in central defence and showing signs of his true potential.

Kiwior has made 26 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring once and registering two assists. Despite this, he has started just seven Premier League games – with six of those coming consecutively following Gabriel’s injury.

While his form has improved, the reality remains that Gabriel and Saliba are Mikel Arteta’s preferred pairing, forming the core of a defence that has conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League this season. With Gabriel expected to return next season, Kiwior could once again find himself on the fringes.

If Kiwior does end up leaving, it seems as if the Gunners have plans in place for a defender as Football Insider revealed Arsenal are one of many teams in for Dean Huijsen this summer.

They face major competition with the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Liverpool in the race for his signature.

The Spanish defender has a £50million release clause in his contract and would be a brilliant coup to improve the defensive depth to Arteta’s side.
