Aston Villa have ‘joined the race’ to sign Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson.

That's according to Caught Offside, who reckon Villa are one of several Premier League clubs keen on the former Chelsea trainee.

They claim newly promoted Burnley and Leeds United like the 21-year-old, as do Everton and West Ham who are drawn to his pace and dribbling ability.

The story goes on to say Villa’s recruitment set up believe Hutchinson to be ‘a smart investment for the future’, one who could prosper under Unai Emery.

They add that Ipswich are aware of the interest and want around £30million for a player they signed permanently last summer, having had him on loan from Chelsea during their Championship promotion campaign.

Hutchinson moved between the youth set-ups at Chelsea and Arsenal before making just two first team appearances for the Blues. He was loaned to the Tractor Boys where he was an effective player in Kieran McKenna’s team.

So much so they brought him back permanently for the Premier League season during which he has scored three times and added two assists in 28 games.

Villa are expected to overhaul their attacking positions in the summer, with uncertainty over the futures of loanees Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, speculation around Morgan Rogers, Emi Buendia and Leon Bailey and Donyell Malen yet to prove himself. Samuel Iling-Junior will also return form his loan with MIddlesbrough.
