Real Madrid set to scout Chelsea, Liverpool mainstays in Premier League action this weekend

Real Madrid will reportedly closely monitor Chelsea central midfielder Enzo Fernandez and Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate when the two teams clash in the Premier League.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Enzo Fernandez and Ibrahima Konate are the subjects of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions have dispatched scouts to watch the duo when Chelsea and Liverpool face off at Stamford Bridge. Los Blancos will also monitor Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Enzo Fernandez has gradually grown in stature since joining Chelsea from SL Benfica in a big-money deal in January 2023. The Argentine international endured some teething problems at the West London club but has become the vice-captain after improved performances under Enzo Maresca. The 24-year-old has turned out over 100 times thus far for Chelsea while chipping in with 13 goals and 19 assists.

As for Ibrahima Konate, injury problems have followed the French defender since he moved from RB Leipzig to Liverpool in July 2021. While the 25-year-old has been a dependable performer at the back for the Merseyside club, his fitness record has been sketchy, even though that has improved this term.

The Frenchman has made 129 appearances thus far for Liverpool while chipping in with five goals and four assists. Konate was instrumental in the Merseyside club’s Premier League title win this season. Meanwhile, the Liverpool defender and Enzo Fernandez have piqued the attention of several well-known clubs with their exploits this season, with Real Madrid among the prospective suitors vying for their signatures.

Real Madrid’s interest in Enzo Fernandez and Ibrahima Konate makes sense. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window as they aim to fill the void Toni Kroos left from his retirement last summer.

On the other hand, with David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger on the wrong side of 30, Real Madrid can do with a new centre-back. So, Konate has emerged as a viable target for Los Blancos. The Merengues will have scouts at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to monitor Fernandez and Konate.

Chelsea and Liverpool face off shortly at Stamford Bridge, and both players will be pivotal figures for their teams. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will also closely monitor Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the English international reportedly on the cusp of sealing a Bosman move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
