Having already won the Women’s Super League last Wednesday with a 1-0 win over Manchester United, Chelsea Women didn’t have much to fight for against Tottenham today. However if they were keep their unbeaten record in England intact they would need to protect themselves from a Spurs side doing what they could to claim themselves as the club who first beat us in domestic competitions this season.

The hosts got very close to opening the score with former Chelsea striker Beth England narrowly missing the target a few minutes before Catarina Macario was fouled by Ashleigh Neville in the area. The current Chelsea striker took matters into her own hands and successfully converted the chance from the spot to get us in front in the first half.

Tottenham lost a bit of steam after Cat’s goal, something that carried on to the second half where Maika Hamano and Wieke Kaptein got quite close to doubling our lead before the 60-minute mark. Afterwards there was not much going on in the match besides Tottenham trying their hardest to infiltrate our defence, and Chelsea doing a good job of keeping them at bay.

Carefree!

* Interesting starting lineup with Guro Reiten and Sjoeke Nüsken in the backline, and Mia Fishel starting upfront.

* Cat Macario gets to 10 goals across all competitions for Chelsea this season.

* The “makeshift” backline put on a good shift today.

* Next up: Liverpool at home in our final Women’s Super League match of the season.

* KTBFFH!
