Arsenal can bring in some new faces when the summer transfer window opens for business

Arsenal need to boost their attacking ranks this summer when the window opens. Injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have left them short of options at the top end of the pitch over recent times. Therefore, that is something that they need to address ahead of next season.

The Gunners have fallen short in the title race this year. It was Liverpool’s turn to pip them to top spot this time around instead of Manchester City. Mikel Arteta’s side keep learning though and will hope they can get their hands on the trophy sooner rather than later.

Arsenal have made impressive strides in the Champions League in this campaign. They beat Real Madrid in the quarter-finals over two legs to reach the semi-finals. The London outfit were beaten by PSG last week in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium but they remain in the tie as they prepare to visit Paris.

Arsenal eye Francisco Trincao transfer this summer

According to Portuguese news outlet Record, Arsenal are interested in a move for Sporting Lisbon winger Francisco Trincao. The Gunners could see the 25-year-old to add more quality to their options at the top end of the pitch. He is a wide-man who usually plays off the right and cuts on to his left foot, similarly to Bukayo Saka.

Trincao, who is valued at £26million on Transfermarkt, would be be useful competition to Saka. Arteta needs as many options as possible to help deal with the increased workload that comes from playing in Europe as well as their domestic fixtures. He is under contract with his current club until June 2026 meaning they risk losing him for free if they don’t agree an extension.

The Portugal international has made 10 caps for his country so far and will be eyeing more down the line. Sporting Lisbon snapped him up in 2022 on an initial deal that was later made permanent. Their decision to bring him in has turned out to be a masterstroke and he has become one of their most precious assets.

He has scored 32 goals in 105 games, nine of which have come in this campaign. The former Porto and Braga man may feel he has a point to prove in England if he ended up coming to Arsenal. That is because he had a loan spell at Wolves a few years ago and struggled to make an impact.

However, fast forward to now, he is a more mature player and has developed his game over recent times. Players like Mohamed Salah and Kevin de Bruyne initially didn’t pull up any trees when they first played in this country. They came back at a later date though and turned out to be world class.

Arsenal set sights on Nico Williams move

The Mirror claim Arsenal are keen on Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams. They add that the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also in the frame for his signature. According to Transfermakrt, he is valued at around the £60million mark so the Gunners would have to fork out big cash to get him.

It is about time they put their hands in their pockets to sign a player at the top end of the pitch though. Their rivals like Liverpool and Manchester City tend to do it on a regular basis. Arteta’s men always seem to be reluctant to though which may be why they haven’t managed to win the title yet.

This year is the ideal time for Arsenal to change things though as they look to keep up with the front-runners. Signing Williams would be a massive statement of intent and it would show that they mean business ahead of next term. At the age of 22, he has bags of potential and has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

Williams has been with Athletic Bilbao for his whole career to date. He has risen up through their academy ranks and was a regular at various different youth levels. The Spain international has played 165 games for them so far and has found the net on 31 occasions.

The Gunners are an attractive proposition for players and it is obvious where they need to bolster their ranks. They are fine in defence and midfield but are lacking that cutting edge needed to challenge for the top prizes. If they brought in Trincao and Williams, other teams would start to take more notice.
