Kevin De Bruyne Man City
Kevin De Bruyne Man City
After 10 years, Kevin De Bruyne is finally ready to leave Manchester City but even at the age of 33, the Belgian international has no shortage of takers.
The playmaker has been the backbone for Man City’s midfield ever since he joined the club and some reports are claiming that he was a bit surprised at not being offered an extension. Kevin De Bruyne believes he can still play at the highest level which is evident with how he’s performing for Manchester City right now.
He has said, as quoted by Sky Sports: “I’m just trying to play as good as I can. I know I’ve got one game left [at the Etihad], but I just try to do my job like I’ve always done.
“I’m proud of what I’m doing and that’s how it’s always been. A lot of team-mates have spoken to me, they’re sad that I’m leaving but sometimes that’s how it goes in life. The way I’m performing and acting, is how everyone should be.
“I don’t know [what the future holds], unfortunately. I’ve shown I can still play here or I wouldn’t have done what I’ve done in the last four or five weeks. That’s it from my point of view.”
Following, KDB’s announcement, multiple clubs have shown interest in the playmaker and while some have already held talks with him, others are having internal discussion about whether to sign him or not. Age and injuries might have caught up with him but the 33-year-old is still a world-class talent and with so many sides in contention, we decided to take a look at his next possible destination.
Chelsea – 4/10:
Initially, it was thought that Kevin De Bruyne wants to move out of Europe and join a Saudi Pro League or MLS side. However, journalist Graeme Bailey is saying that the midfielder is open to staying in Europe and also in England.
This news, if true, will be a huge boost for all the European teams which want to sign him and one of them is Chelsea.
The Blues have been considering re-signing the midfielder and given that De Bruyne spent one unsuccessful year with the Blues, he would love to go back and finish the job. Honestly, Chelsea do not need a new No. 10 because they already have Cole Palmer for that role but the way Chelsea have been spending money under their new owners, it won’t be a surprise if the Blues offer him a lucrative contract.
Aston Villa – 6/10:
Aston Villa, thanks to their recent resurgence are showing bigger ambitions and as per reports, they have had internal discussions about whether to make a move for Kevin De Bruyne or not.
Unai Emery can certainly use a player of his calibre next season and his vast experience can help Villa, particularly in the European competitions.
However, these Villa reports are only at it’s initial stages and they still have to make up their mind on whether they wish to open talks or not.
Bayern Munich – 3/10:
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have also been named in the list of admirers because Vincent Kompany has reportedly recommended his former teammate to his club’s owners.
No formal talks have taken place between the sides as Bayern are still pondering, much like Aston Villa. A move to Germany will not be very tempting because most players join Bayern in the hopes of winning silverware but De Bruyne has won it all with Manchester City.
MLS – 7.5/10:
If Kevin De Bruyne wants to move out of Europe and spend a relaxed couple of years, he could walk the Lionel Messi way and join an MLS side.
Even though San Diego FC have backed out from this transfer race, Inter Miami and Chicago Fire are still interested in the 33-year-old. Inter Miami hold discovery rights of the MLS but De Bruyne’s high wages are proving to be a stumbling block.
According to a report in The Athletic, Chicago Fire are the current frontrunners and they are already in advanced talks with the player’s representatives. In the previous couple of years, the lure of the MLS has vapourised because players now prefer the Saudi Pro League but most reports indicate that De Bruyne will prefer a move to the United States instead of the Middle East.
