DEAN Huijsen’s goal celebration was an inside joke between him, Alex Scott and Marcus Tavernier as he scored to get the Cherries level with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The young Spaniard was a standout performer in the capital and grabbed the crucial goal to make it 1-1 with 23 minutes to play.

Eight minutes later the Cherries took the lead through striker Evanilson, as he bundled home a Scott corner which was flicked on by Tavernier.

Huijsen’s goal prompted his now trademark ‘chill guy’ celebration and some new moves with Scott and Tavernier.

Asked about the celebration afterwards, Huijsen said: “It's just a song called the Groovy Cat and it's kind of like an inside joke between me and Alex Scott and Marcus Tavernier.

“It's a song from PAWSA. It is just like a little bit of a summer song.”

On the win, the 20-year-old said: “It's a great win, really important points for us and hopefully we can make something good out of it and we just continue working hard and staying humble.”

He told the BBC: “It’s just so special to get a win here and these three points are so important for us at the moment and just buzzing to be able to win here.”

Despite trailing at the break, Huijsen said the side was confident they would be able to come back and get a result.

“We know what we’re capable of, we’re a young team and we never give up so we knew when we were 1-0 down that there was a possibility for us to win it, so just really happy,” he said.

And his goal, perfectly guiding an unbelievable Antoine Semenyo long throw into the far corner, gave them the first step in their comeback.

Reflecting on the goal and Semenyo’s throw, Huijsen said: “Before today, I was always making jokes with him saying that he couldn’t throw it far and everything because we’ve tried it in a few other games and I was laughing at him, just a bit of banter.

“I think he proved me wrong today so I can’t say anything anymore!”

Looking at the season as a whole, the centre back said he is very happy with how his first campaign in the Premier League and that he always believed he had the ability to perform, continuing to work hard.

Looking at the possibility of securing European qualification this season, Huijsen said: “All of us, we want to be a part of something special, everyone wants to make history with any club they play with.

“That stays forever, you always remember that.

“With the direction the club is going, definitely in a few years it could also be a possibility and hopefully this season we can get there.”
