Liverpool’s Premier League title celebrations were dampened on Sunday as they lost 3-1 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Reds were confirmed as champions last weekend courtesy of a 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, but they fell behind early on in West London when Enzo Fernandez fired past Alisson.
An own goal by Jarell Quansah doubled the Blues’ advantage after the break, before Virgil van Dijk pulled one back for the visitors.
Cole Palmer then ended his goal drought late on from the penalty spot, securing three crucial points for Enzo Maresca’s side.
Away from the action, it has emerged that Liverpool are one of a number of sides keeping tabs on a Premier League forward.
According to CaughtOffside, the Reds are keeping tabs on Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs
The 25-year-old has been in fine form for the Bees so far this season, scoring 18 goals in 35 Premier League matches.
His impressive form in front of goal hasn’t gone unnoticed, though, and the report claims that Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all also keeping tabs on the Cameroon international.
Mbeumo joined Brentford from French side Troyes back in 2019 and has since played 239 times for the West London club across all competitions, scoring 68 times and providing 49 assists.
The Cameroonian is under contract until the end of next season, and the report claims that the Bees will demand a fee in the region of £60-65 million to allow the forward to leave during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Liverpool’s interest in Mbeumo comes amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez, while Arsenal are on the hunt for a new forward having been without both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus for large parts of the current campaign due to injury.
