Chelsea are plotting a new move to sign Alejandro Garnacho with Man United ready to let him go, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the Blues remain keen on the 20-year-old after missing out in January.
United, meanwhile, are open to letting him leave alongside Kobbie Mainoo as they aim to raise funds through player sales this summer.
However, the winger will seek assurances about his playing time as he wants to play regularly but has concerns about the other options in Enzo Maresca’s side.
Chelsea and Napoli both explored moves for Garnacho in the mid-season window but were unable to strike a deal as the winger opted to remain in Manchester.
Brown has since told Football Insider in February that Garnacho is questioning his future at Man United after missing out on a January move.

Brown told Football Insider in January that Man United would accept “major” offers for Garnacho as a result of their difficult financial situation.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa, has insisted Chelsea remain interested in the forward despite some doubts emerging.
“*Chelsea’s interest hasn’t gone away,*” he told Football Insider.
“They wanted him in January and they’re still looking to sign a new winger.
“It’s been spoken about for a while that Man United could let Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo go because they want to raise money.
“Chelsea have the foundations of a top-class team and they’re still looking to improve in key areas.
“The problem is, you don’t know if Garnacho would come in and be a regular in that team, because they’ve got so many options out wide.
“He will want to play regularly – but look at what’s happened to Jadon Sancho there.
“How many players have they signed with big expectations who have just been on the fringes?”

Man United want Antoine Semenyo to replace Garnacho
Amid growing speculation about Garnacho’s future, United have begun assessing potential alternatives to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad out wide.
Brown told Football Insider on 3 May that Man United are eyeing Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo ahead of the summer transfer window.
Scouts are believed to have been impressed by his performances, but they are not the only club keeping an eye on his situation.
This comes after Football Insider revealed in December that Bournemouth will entertain offers for Semenyo amid interest from Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham.
