Florian Plettenberg reports that Arsenal director Andrea Berta is pushing to sign Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP, with several conversations already having taken place.
Plettenberg adds that Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak remains high on Arsenal’s list, but the striker is very expensive.
Back on Gyokeres, the journalist claims Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid are all in the race along with Arsenal, and the situation is still open. Though Bayern Munich have pulled out over the cost.

Fabrizio Romano reported in April that Gyokeres’ representatives had been in England for meetings and talks with potential future clubs. Again, Romano suggested it’s an open race, but the striker is certainly expected to leave Sporting this summer.
The 26-year-old reportedly has a verbal agreement with Sporting to leave for a bid in the region of €65-70m this summer, despite his official release clause of €100m.
Sporting and Gyokeres came to that agreement on the basis that the striker wouldn’t push for a move last summer or in January, even though the club lost their manager Ruben Amorim to Manchester United mid-season.

Gyokeres now has 52 goals and 12 assists for Sporting in 49 games this season. His campaign isn’t done yet, with Sporting sitting top of the Liga Portugal on goal difference with two matches remaining.
The next game is the big one, with the league’s top-two teams facing off on Saturday, May 10th.
The winner of that game almost certainly wins the league, and a draw would hand Sporting a narrow advantage going into the final day.
