Five Brighton & Hove Albion players leave as contracts expire

Just before their final [WSL](https://womenfootball.blog/womens-super-league-table-standings/) home game of the season against Arsenal, Brighton announced the departure of five players whose contracts expire in June. The players leaving are Poppy Pattinson, Maria Thorisdottir, Guro Bergsvand, Dejana Stefanovic, and Pauline Bremer.

Head coach Dario Vidosic said, “Our final home game of the season against Arsenal today gives our fans the opportunity to say goodbye to five players who have been a great support to me in my first season as head coach and fine servants of the club.

“They have always represented Brighton & Hove Albion in the right way on the pitch, on the training ground and in the way they have conducted themselves day to day.

“On behalf of everyone at Brighton & Hove Albion I’d like to wish Guro, Maria, Pauline, Poppy and Dejana all the best for their futures and they know they will always be welcome visitors to the club.”

Before the game, assistant coach Chris Roberts said: “It’s our last home game and we’ve had an excellent record at home. We’ve had unbelievable support from our fans, and we want to make sure we give them the best possible final game of the season. As a squad we want to finish our season well. It’s our last home game and we want to make sure we finish with the best possible record at home”.

You can safely say the team achieved that goal, as they cruised to a 4-2 win over Arsenal. The Gunner’s  familiar weaknesses in the back line were once again exposed – the goals similar to those conceded against Aston Villa last week.

Fran Kirby opened the scoring with a shot into the top bin, Čanković found the net twice and Seike sealed the 4-2 victory. Foord and Caldentey scored for Arsenal. With three points, Brighton solidified their hold onto fifth place. The Seagulls have 28 points, three more than sixth-place Liverpool.
