According to Fabrizio Romano, Jorginho has agreed a three-year deal with Brazilian side Flamengo.
The 33-year-old midfielder will sign as a free agent in June, during FIFA’s pre-Club World Cup transfer window.
The Italy international joined Arsenal from Chelsea in January 2023 for a fee in the region of £12 million and has made 78 appearances, mostly providing cover for Thomas Partey and Declan Rice.
Initially signed on an 18-month deal, he was handed an extra year last summer. While his arrival was met with a degree of scepticism, it’s turned out to be a canny bit of business all told.
Jorginho is currently sidelined after puncturing a lung against Brentford last month, but he’s expected to return before the end of the season. Who knows, he might even sign off with another Champions League medal.
Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi is thought to have been lined up as Jorgi’s replacement.
Elsewhere, L’Equipe claim that Real Madrid are weighing up a move for William Saliba this summer and have already made contact with the defender.
The Frenchman is under contract until 2027 and Arsenal are keen to tie him down to fresh terms to avoid any future uncertainty.
He’s said several times that he’s happy in North London, so we can only hope the club tells Florentino Perez exactly where to stick his interest.
