Man United to make cut-price bid for Barcelona star after finding bizarre loophole in his contract that changes…

Manchester United are set to make a cut-price bid for a Barcelona star after discovering a loophole in his contract.

Man United plan to recruit when the transfer window reopens this summer.

It will mark Ruben Amorim's first pre-season, having replaced Erik ten Hag last November.

Several players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford as Amorim seems set to reinforce his squad with some new faces at the back.

The Red Devils have shipped a staggering 51 goals in the Premier League, losing 16 league games.

In a bid to sure up his defence come next season, Man United have set their sights on Ronald Araujo, who has been on the club's radar for a while.

He could still move on from Barca despite signing a contract extension at the start of 2025.

Araujo appeared set to leave the Camp Nou during the January transfer window until he changed his mind, penning a new deal.

But his lack of minutes under Hansi Flick has once again clouded his future with uncertainty.

He is believed to be frustrated by the lack of game-time, with Flick favouring Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez.

That could pave the way for a Barca departure this summer.

Araujo's new contract contains a €1 billion release clause, but a €65-70 million 'emergency clause' is also inserted, per Football Espana.

The temporary clause of €65-70 million will only be valid from July 1 - 10 before resetting to €1 billion.

So, that gives interested teams a chance to make an offer at a cut-price fee.

Barca want to avoid a transfer saga dragging into pre-season as Man United are thought to be alerted to the situation.

Ruben Amorim is rumoured to be a fan of Araujo as he looks to strengthen his defence and bring in a new defensive leader at Man United.

The 26-year-old has made just 10 league appearances this season but has played 22 games across all competitions.
