Chelsea are confident of recouping their outlay on Christopher Nkunku if he leaves the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Nkunku, 27, is unhappy at Stamford Bridge and is ready to move on when the transfer opens next month.

The Blues paid £52million to RB Leipzig to land the forward in 2023 but he has failed to establish himself in England.

He has struggled to become first choice at centre-forward, in attacking midfield or as a winger during his time under Mauricio Pochettino and Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea confident of recouping £52m Nkunku fee

Football Insider first revealed in October 2024 that Nkunku was “unhappy” to play a backup role to the club’s other forwards.

The France international was linked with a January exit from Chelsea but a move failed to materialise with the Blues still fighting for Champions League qualification.
