Manchester City are closing in on securing Champions League football for next term

Manchester City could clinch Champions League football as early as this weekend.

City have just three matches remaining and six points from games against Southampton, Bournemouth and Fulham will guarantee a top five finish regardless of results elsewhere.

Pep Guardiola's side have reeled off four straight top flight wins and are up to third, only three points behind Arsenal who face champions Liverpool this weekend. Making that five successive victories, against a beleaguered Saints side who have had a dismal campaign, could sow up Champions League football for next term.

If City win they would move onto 67 points and with Chelsea having to play Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest in the closing weeks of the season, there is the guarantee of dropped points elsewhere.

Should City win and Aston Villa fail to beat Bournemouth at the Vitality, then Unai Emery's side, currently sixth, will be unable to catch the Blues.

And if Forest lose to Leicester and Chelsea lose to Newcastle then City will be guaranteed a top five place because Enzo Maresca's side head to the City Ground on the final day of the season meaning both clubs would be unable to overhaul Guardiola's men.

Here's how the run-in looks for those clubs competing for a Champions League spot.
