Arsenal are leading the race to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens ahead of Premier League rivals Chelsea this summer, according to German newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten.
The Gunners have reportedly identified Gittens as a potential reinforcement on the wing and have joined a host of the 20-year-old suitors ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Gittens is believed to be open to leaving Dortmund after the season and has reportedly already voiced his desire for a new challenge internally at the club.
The winger would reportedly welcome a return to England, as he hopes to impress Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2026 World Cup, having been snubbed by the German for his first squad in March.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Gittens wants to leave Dortmund this summer and has been considering his departure for some time amid a poor second half of the season at Signal Iduna Park.
The English winger, praised as 'one of Europe's best dribblers', has scored just once and provided no assists for the German club since mid-January and has struggled to secure a spot in Niko Kovac’s first XI in recent weeks.
He made just two starts in Dortmund’s last seven Bundesliga games, scoring once in the 4-1 win over Freiburg in April.
Chelsea are believed to have already held talks with Gittens’ representatives over a summer move, but face competition from multiple top clubs across Europe, including Arsenal.
The Gunners are expected to sign a new winger at the Emirates this summer, and Gittens could emerge as an alternative to their long-standing target Nico Williams.
Dortmund would reportedly be open to discussing offers for the 20-year-old winger, whose valuation stands at €50–60m (£42–51m).
