Newcastle United are unlikely to seriously pursue a move for Arsenal target Dean Huijsen this summer, feeling his interest lies elsewhere.

Mark Douglas reports for The i Paper that Newcastle United face an uphill battle to convince AFC Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen to join them over some of his other suitors, despite holding talks with the player’s representatives.
Those talks have seemingly given Newcastle the impression that Huijsen is more interested in other clubs, and they don’t want to be drawn into a long-winded transfer saga.
Douglas adds that Arsenal have thrown their hat into the ring alongside Chelsea and Liverpool as the clubs reading to activate the player’s release clause. The Gunners got a first-hand look at some of Huijsen’s qualities as he scored against them on Saturday.

David Ornstein recently reported for The Athletic that Arsenal have a strong interest in Huijsen, as one of five Premier League clubs to meet with his camp. The other four are Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Ornstein concurred that Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are the front runners, but there’s no clear favourite among them at this stage.
The report also added that both Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta are keen on the player and the club are willing to pay his £50m release clause.

20-year-old Huijsen has made 33 appearances for Bournemouth this season so far, as well as making his debut for the Spanish national team.
Under normal circumstances, the former Juventus and AS Roma defender probably wouldn’t be on the market less than a year after joining Bournemouth, but his release clause effectively guarantees that he’ll be moving on this summer.
Arsenal may have to make a quick decision about whether this is a deal they can afford to do, along with all their other summer business.
