Man Utd could be open to selling 'incredible' star, Premier League rivals keen - insider

Chelsea are plotting a fresh move to sign Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho this summer, former scout Mick Brown has claimed.

The Blues have reportedly retained their interest in the 20-year-old winger after being linked with a surprise move in January, as they look to add a new attacker to Enzo Maresca’s star-studded line-up.

Brown claims Man United could entertain offers for both of their academy starlets Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo after the season ends as they look to raise funds to reinvest in Ruben Amorim’s squad.

However, the Argentinian would likely face tough competition for places at Stamford Bridge, and it remains to be seen whether he would be open to a move to West London this summer.

Chelsea Still Want Alejandro Garnacho

Brown, speaking to Football Insider, revealed that Garnacho would want regular minutes if he were to leave Man United this summer, amid Chelsea’s ongoing interest in the 20-year-old starlet:

“Chelsea’s interest hasn’t gone away. They wanted him in January and they’re still looking to sign a new winger.

“It’s been spoken about for a while that Man United could let Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo go because they want to raise money.

“Chelsea have the foundations of a top-class team and they’re still looking to improve in key areas.

“The problem is, you don’t know if Garnacho would come in and be a regular in that team, because they’ve got so many options out wide.

“He will want to play regularly – but look at what’s happened to Jadon Sancho there.

“How many players have they signed with big expectations who have just been on the fringes?”

Garnacho has been a regular in Amorim’s first XI in recent months, making 54 appearances and registering 21 goal contributions across all competitions this season.

He has started every Premier League game for United since the beginning of March and was a bright spark in their 4-3 loss at Brentford on Sunday, scoring once and providing an assist.

The ‘incredible’ Argentinian was linked with a surprise departure in January alongside Marcus Rashford, after the pair were dropped by Amorim for the Manchester derby in December.

However, unlike the England international, Garnacho was reintroduced to the squad the following game and has kept his place ever since.
