Monaco head coach Vassilis Spanoulis is set to face his former team, Olympiacos, in the EuroLeague semi-finals.
AS Monaco survived a Game 5 thriller against FC Barcelona at home, winning 85–84, and advanced to the second EuroLeague Final Four in the club's history.
Monaco, just like in their first appearance in the Final Four, will face Olympiacos Piraeus in the semi-finals.
Back in Kaunas in 2023, Monaco suffered a heartbreaking loss after blowing a 12-point halftime lead and eventually losing 62–76.
Now they will face Olympiacos once again, with one of the biggest legends of the Greek club on the sidelines, Vassilis Spanoulis, who will make his EuroLeague Final Four debut as a coach, facing the team with which he won two EuroLeague titles as a player.
"Everybody knows how much Olympiacos means to me," he said after the Game 5 win against Barcelona.
"For me, that place is my second home. I spent half of my career there and have incredible love from the fans across all generations," coach said.
"But now I'm proud to be here in Monaco, and I will give everything for 40 minutes to win," Spanoulis concluded.
