Eric Garcia felt that Barcelona’s defeat to Inter was “cruel” after [Hansi Flick’s side were beaten 4-3](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/barcelona-uefa-champions-league/2025/5/6/24423298/inter-milan-barcelona-champions-league-final-score-match-report-recap-reactions) in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.
The right-back scored a brilliant goal to help Barca fight back from 2-0 down and go on to lead 3-2 in the second half.
However, Inter equalised at the death and went on to win the tie in extra-time, leaving Eric to reflect on what might have been.
> “Football has been very cruel to us. I don’t know what it is about this stadium. I’ve been here three times and it’s never gone our way,” he told the media afterwards.
>
> “We all know what happened with this referee last time. We have to be proud, no one believed in us, they said it was a transition year, that we were very young, and in the end, look at all this.”
>
> “Football is about occasional mistakes. In the second half, we were far superior. We showed what a team we are. In extra time, they closed up really well, and it was already difficult. I don’t think it will affect Sunday. We exceeded expectations. The team comes out stronger today, even if it wasn’t to be.”
Flick will certainly be hoping the result does not affect his team for Sunday. Barca are up against Real Madrid at Montjuic and can win the title with a Clasico victory.
