Arsenal 'observing' another Aston Villa star as Hugo Ekitike hint delivered

Arsenal are looking to make history tonight as they travel to Paris Saint-Germain knowing that they have plenty of work to do to advance to the final of the Champions League.

The Gunners are a goal down from the first leg in north London and will be eager to level the tie on aggregate as quickly as possible. Winning the Champions League would be historic for the Gunners and would also put them in the conversation for some of the world's best players in the summer transfer window.

Ahead of the market reopening at the end of this season, football.london has taken a closer look at a couple of rumours surrounding players who may be joining the club.

Arsenal observing another Aston Villa star

After recent reports linking the Gunners with a move for Ollie Watkins, Arsenal are now being tipped with interest for Morgan Rogers. According to Football Transfers, Andrea Berta is a huge admirer of Rogers after his impressive performances at Villa Park this season.

Villa are reportedly reluctant to sell but Arsenal feel there is a deal to be done. Therefore, they are keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old to see how he progresses.

What FL says: This is the sort of signing that Arsenal need to be making in the summer. Strength in depth on the wing will be a target for the Gunners and Rogers has enjoyed a standout season at Villa Park. Having only spent £8m to bring him to their club, Villa will be conscious of being able to make a big profit that Arsenal will need to look out for. However, if Rogers does go on to improve or at least continue, with the same output from this season, he could be pushed out of the Gunners' budget so approaching the forward should be seen as a priority.

Ekitike transfer hint

Speaking with journalist Jan Age Fjortoft, Eintracht Frankfurt's board member Axel Hellmann has insisted that a move to the Premier League is not a guarantee for the striker. "I would love for him to play for us for the next ten years but we're all realistic," the German said.

"Hugo is one of the players with the highest potential in Europe. He's only 22 years old and has a great future ahead of him.

"There may be other markets he's opened up with his performances... I'm sure he has what it takes to fit in with other clubs as well. Clubs a little further south in Europe [than England]."

What FL says: Ekitike represents a cost-effective option for Arsenal to solve their striker problems, and his record this season suggests he is worth targeting. 22 goals and 11 assists suggest he could fit into the Mikel Arteta system, which would see demands on him to link-up play from the No.9 position, as well as scoring goals. The worry for Arsenal is that 'clubs further south in Europe' may be able to blow the Gunners out of the water in the transfer market. Real Madrid are reportedly keeping an eye on the Frenchman and if they are interested, Arsenal may struggle to match their package.
