Chelsea are prepared to entertain offers for Wesley Fofana this summer amid interest from a number of Saudi Pro League clubs.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Enzo Maresca is open to letting the 24-year-old leave.
A “huge” offer from the Middle East would be enough for the Blues to allow Fofana to leave, and that money would the be reinvested into the squad.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Chelsea will prioritise signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window.
Fofana has struggled with yet another injury-stricken season, having featured in just 14 games across all competitions this season after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury.
As a result, the Blues are prepared to cut their losses and a deal for him to move to Saudi Arabia is seen as an opportunity for them to recoup significant funds.

Chelsea make Wesley Fofana exit decision amid Saudi interest
Brown warned Football Insider in February that Maresca will face the sack at Chelsea if he cannot make improvements to their defensive stability.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Fofana’s exit could facilitate the signing of new defenders this summer.
“*Wesley Fofana is one who could leave Chelsea,*” he told Football Insider.
“There are clubs in Saudi Arabia looking at him, and I don’t think Chelsea would stand in his way.
“He’s missed so many games through injury since he moved there, which is always a concern.
“I think the manager will be open to letting him go if they can find a replacement.
“They need to strengthen defensively, it’s going to be a priority, and if they can make huge money on him like we know these Saudi clubs will spend, it will boost their funds.
“Then they can use the money they make from his sale to bring in a new centre-back.
*“His injury issues have meant he’s hardly been available, so they were going to look to bring in a new option even if he stayed.*“

Christopher Nkunku to leave Stamford Bridge after source’s reveal
Another player who could be set to leave Stamford Bridge is Christopher Nkunku, who has been unable to establish himself in Maresca’s side.
Football Insider revealed on 6 May that Nkunku is unhappy at Chelsea and is ready to move on when the transfer window opens next month.
The Blues are confident of recouping a significant chunk of the £52million spent on signing the forward from RB Leipzig in 2023.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Nkunku will “definitely” leave Chelsea this summer, with a return to the Bundesliga on the cards.
