The last night was a heartbreaking one for FC Barcelona as they were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League semi-final stage. After a 3-3 draw in the first leg, the Blaugranes lost to Inter Milan with a 4-3 scoreline in extra time, thus losing the tie 7-6 on aggregate.
As is apparent from the scoreline, the Catalans did not take a beating lying down but were up to the task of facing one of the best-drilled teams in Europe without some of their most important players. However, the task proved to be too much for them.
Lamine Yamal impresses in the semi-final
Several Barcelona players put in some impressive performances in these two games, but no one was more spectacular than the young winger Lamine Yamal. The La Masia graduate was inarguably the most dangerous player for the Catalan team in this tie and dazzled throughout the two games.
He also scored one amazing goal, hit the post three times in two games, and forced Yann Sommer into several saves.
Yamal’s message on social media
Unfortunately, his good performance could not get his team into the UCL final. However, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, Yamal assured the fans that he will keep his promise of bringing the UCL trophy to Barcelona in a social media post after the game.

The youngster expressed his intention to bring the Blaugrana club back at the top:
“We gave it our all, it couldn’t be this year but we’ll be back, have no doubt, ‘CULERS’, we won’t stop until we put this club where it belongs—at the very top… I will keep my promise and bring it to Barcelona, we won’t stop until we achieve it. But Sunday is another final and we all need to be together. Visca el Barça!”
Such a motivational message is just what the fans and the team need at this difficult time. But in addition to his drive, this message also showcases that Lamine Yamal is going to extend his contract with Barcelona, even though there were very few doubts about it.
