Junior Firpo reacted to former Leeds United teammate Raphinha’s message after Barcelona were eliminated from the Champions League by Inter Milan on Tuesday.

The ex-Whites forward was in action for the Blaugrana against the Serie A outfit on 6 May at San Siro, with the visitors losing 4-3 on the night.

Firpo played alongside Raphinha in West Yorkshire for one season before the Brazil international completed a move to Camp Nou in 2022.

It looks like the two still remain in touch, and the left-back has reacted to the 28-year-old’s latest social media post.

Raphinha’s record at Barcelona this season.

At San Siro, the 28-year-old Brazilian winger scored in the 87th minute, as the La Liga giants thought they’d gotten the winner after going two goals down in the first half, but it wasn’t to be for them.

Raphinha was one of the best talents at Elland Road, and it isn’t surprising that he’s reached new heights under Hansi Flick.

Farke to worry about Firpo future at Leeds United

Firpo’s current contract at Elland Road expires in the coming weeks, leaving the Whites with a massive decision to make over his future.

Farke could be without the former Real Betis defender as he’s thinking of moving back to the Estadio Benito Villamarin as a free agent.

Paraag Marathe must ensure that the West Yorkshire outfit keep their best players and add more quality to their squad after winning Premier League promotion.

Leeds can’t lose someone like Firpo for free, as it’ll arguably cost considerable money to replace him.

Sam Byram could also leave Elland Road with his contract also expiring, and 49ers Enterprises may need to make heavy investments in West Yorkshire soon.

Farke already lacks defensive depth at the Whites, and the loss of two defenders before next season will undoubtedly further hinder him.

The 49ers will undoubtedly need to spend money on recruitment this summer, but how much money the hierarchy is willing to spend remains to be seen.
