From France: Everton now eyeing surprise move to sign "phenomenal" winger for Moyes

Everton are keeping tabs on former Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe ahead of the summer transfer window, according to journalist Sebastien Denis.

The Toffees have reportedly identified the 29-year-old Ivory Coast international as a potential reinforcement to David Moyes’ options on the wing, amid Pepe’s promising season at Villarreal.

The ex-Gunners ace has been impressive for the La Liga club lately, scoring once and providing two assists in a 4-2 win over Osasuna last weekend, helping Villarreal continue their battle for European spots.

Pepe is rated highly internally at the club, and Villarreal would reportedly like to offer him a new deal, with his current contract set to expire in June 2026.

According to Denis, Pepe’s recent run of form has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including both Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The two sides are believed to be keeping a close eye on the 'phenomenal' 29-year-old winger, who also has no shortage of suitors in the Saudi Pro League.

Saudi clubs were reportedly in the running to land Pepe before he signed a two-year deal with Villarreal last summer, and have continued monitoring his performances since.

Pepe, who joined Arsenal for £72m from Lille in 2019, struggled to justify his hefty price tag during his three seasons in North London, scoring just 27 goals and providing 21 assists in 112 appearances.

He was loaned out to Ligue 1 side Nice for the 2022/23 campaign before leaving the following summer on a free transfer to Turkish club Trabzonspor.
